Day Care = T.V. Time

New research published in the December issue of the journal Pediatrics found that kids in child care settings could be watching as much as 2.4 hours of television on an average day.
A study from the Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development examined 168 child care programs and found that 70 percent of home-based and 36 percent of center-based programs showed television to preschool kids.

"Most parents don't know what happens at their children's preschool," said author Dr. Dimitri Christakis, who directs the Center for Child Health.

Researchers surveyed licensed home-based and center-based day cares in multiple states that took care of children under the age of 5. It was reported reported that on an average day, home-based programs showed about 1.6 hours to toddlers, compared with 0.1 hours for center-based programs, and 2.4 hours to preschool children compared with 0.4 hours.

Previous estimates that children spend about three hours a day watching television are incorrect, because those numbers relied on parents to calculate the number. In addition to this recent study that indicated that some day care centers show about 2.4 hours of screen time, some American preschool children could be watching as much as five hours a day.

Jay Leno not Funny?

When it comes to late night t.v. i have liked Jay Leno. Several months ago Jay hanjded over the Late Night Show to Connan O'Brian. Must thought Jay would retire but instead he signed a contract to the Jay Leno Show, a new prime time show on NBC, 8-9 p.m. (MST). The Jay Leno Show follows the same format that the Late Night Show followed including "Jaywalking", "Headlines" and even Keven Eubanks his sidekick band leader.

Recently NBC and the Jay Leno Show have taken criticism for the lack of success over the new show. Newsweek Magazine's entertanment column labeled Jay Leno as one of the "Top 10 Unfunny Commics," he was number 8 on the list. Newsweek called him "Uncle Jay" because he was too crude for the older audience and too "Meh" for the unger audience.

Ever since I was old enough to say up to watch the Late Night Show I have liked Jay Leno. I like Connan O'Brian but i like Jay more, what i don't like is his new time slot. Jay even said if NBC offered him his old job back even with his respect for

New Script for Domain Names

The organization that controls domain codes for Internet addresses is Voting on whether or not to permit non-Latin language codes for the first time in its history.

The board of directors of the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will vote on the proposed protocol for Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs,)Friday at its meeting in Seoul, South Korea.

The change, which has a target implementation date of November 16, would allow Web addresses in Cyrillic, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and others.

I think that this would limit the internet for latin based users who make up the majority of internet patron. Seeing as how english is the most widely spoken language in the worl inter net should remain latin based so that every one will have a universal way to access the internet
